Simplify your monitoring and administration
Case study
These two quotes are from a forum hosted by Citra (the particular thread is here). The author is from Friend Community Mental Health Resource Centre in Weston-Super-Mare and has now been using Lamplight for about a year.
The first post...
"I am desperately looking for a database solution that can log membership of our charity
(names, addresses etc. of members) which will also be able to log instances of external/internal meetings
(with whom and when), usage of our centre (i.e. drop-in-, groups accessed, whether visitors or members,
seeing a worker etc. etc. etc.) for our monitoring and evaluation. We have had, so far, three database
'experts' working on this for the last three years - the first 'expert' did a runner after he won the Lottery,
the second lot of 'experts' where computer students at a local uni, the third is an 'expert'
in database design but doesn't seem to be able to grasp what information I need from the database.
So far it has taken the last one nearly one and half years (and very little apparent work) to get............nowhere!
I have been to see them three times with detailed explanations of what I require but nothing.
I am tearing my hair out! Can ANYONE help me please? "
And afterwards...
"I know it's a bit 'late in the day' to post once more regarding the problems I was having with my database and
whether or not I had solved the problem, but I am more than delighted to say that I have. Hurrah!!!
Firstly, I trawled the internet to see if there were any likely looking designers who would be able to
offer something not too expensive and, yes, I found what seemed to be the perfect solution - Lamplightdb.co.uk,
specialising in affordable databases for charities and voluntary organisations.
I tried the demo model a few times, then got the Workers to try it also - even those who are 'computerphobes'
found it easy to use - and contacted Matt Parker post haste.
Matt had the database up and running to my requirements within two weeks. It works perfectly, and whenever
I need something changing, additions made or whatever Matt very quickly responds to my e-mails which,
following several years of incredible frustration, is like a breath of fresh air.
Many thanks, Matt.
Very Happy"
