From time to time we like to play with other kinds of data to see what’s possible.
Here’s some that we’ve done:
- VCS Open hack. Sarah and Louise did a session at the LASA Open Data event on 17th September 2012. In preparation they set up VCS Open and set the Open Data Challenge: open up one piece of data – the number of individuals or organisations you worked with in 2011 (and their charity number). This hack gets this opened data, mashes it up with Charity Commission and IMD (Index of Multiple Deprivation) data as a proof of concept of what could be possible. You can add your data on the open data challenge page and see it come through to the hack pretty much instantly.
- ECDP Open Data – looking at data from a charity that’s published some of it’s performance data online
- Help the Hospices mashup with Index of Multiple Deprivation data
Matt also likes to go to RewiredState hacks – he was in one of the teams at the Parliament hack day that won joint best in show for an app that helped link people’s interests to what was going in in Parliament.
