Reporting Extra

Spending days getting reports ready for your funders due to their complex requirements? Are your data submissions being rejected because of small errors? Want more reportable data, or a way to export your data into external systems such as Power BI?

The Reporting Extra
Module can help. Watch our full demo video of the module here

Translating your data

The Reporting Extra Module allows you to “translate” your data, so that you can output it using code sets for partners for reporting purposes.

This changes how you see your data without changing your data.

You tell Lamplight what the codes are that you require and how you want your data presented. Once set up, run the reports with a simple click and submit your data via a spreadsheet.

If your funders request changes, you can change the output without changing the original data. It also allows for different outputs with the same data.

Example scenario

You are required to provide a list of service users and their gender by a commissioner. However, instead of words, they require you to submit coded data, where ‘01’ means ‘Female’, ‘02’ means ‘Male’, and ‘03’ means ‘non-binary’.

You tell Lamplight what the codes are for each gender option, and then when you run the list, the table now shows ’01’, ’02’, and ’03’ in the Gender column. You can do this for as many fields as you like, with different rules for how the data is translated.

The Report CodeSets Module may be beneficial to your system if you:

  • Have reporting requirements that use coded data e.g. Male=1, Female=2, Face-to-Face=A, Phone=B
  • Have different funders that need reports based on different age ranges
  • Have to submit to your funder direct via a spreadsheet (e.g. NHS)
  • Require MHS Data Set reporting

“[Before Lamplight] a lot of work was going on behind the scenes to chase up the information needed. It was a drudge to chase up and to put the data into a single spreadsheet. I had to do a lot of work to get it into the right format. I can now get it done in an hour.”

'Look Up' Type Fields

Lookup fields in profiles using official data to provide GP, Dentist, and Educational Establishment data.

In Lamplight, you can then search for the GP practice and the profile will show full contact details. This will also give you extra reportable fields such as Prescriber, or Local Authority. The postcodes are also linked to National Statistics Data and allows you to report on these criteria too.

Why you might want to use these fields:

  1. It’s important to have accurate information, and contact information for surgeries/schools, and you don’t want to enter it manually.
  2. To speed up data entry
  3. So you can report on the data linked to the GP / Dentist / School

Data Connect

Data Connect makes it possible to connect your data to remote systems (e.g. Power BI). To get this up and running, you will need to:

  1. Enable the Reporting Extra module

  2. Create a ‘Permission’ in Lamplight with the correct access level for the kind of data to export.

  3. Use the Lamplight generated username and password to request your data at the remote system (e.g. Power BI)

What’s the point?

It provides a route to get data out of Lamplight to other remote systems, that could be another service, funder, or an analytics tool like Microsoft Power BI.

Below is an image of an interactive Power BI report using test data. This uses a simple referral based List/Group and Data View.
