This quarter, Clare shared some inspiring developments from the Women’s Support sector, highlighting storytelling, youth empowerment, and targeted funding for grassroots organisations.
⭐Treasures CEO Mandy has contributed to a powerful documentary titled HOLLOWAY, which features six women sharing their experiences within the criminal justice system. If you get a chance to watch it, the film offers a vital platform for lived experience and advocacy.
⭐Canaan Project has been awarded a Jack Petchey Foundation grant, enabling them to fund trips and activities for young women. This recognition supports their ongoing work to build confidence, connection, and opportunity for girls in their community.
Clare also attended Rosa’s national conference remotely. Rosa is a UK-wide fund dedicated to organisations that are by women, for women, supporting them through funding, research, and campaigning. The two-day event featured case studies, examples of change, and direct engagement with funders on day one, followed by practical training sessions on day two.
In funding news, the Smallwood Trust has launched place-based funding in Newham and Hackney, prioritising support for organisations working with women from asylum, refugee, and migrant backgrounds. Their Local Resilience Fund aims to address the additional layers of oppression these women face and strengthen the organisations supporting them.
These updates reflect the sector’s ongoing commitment to connection, compassion, and community-led change. From film to funding, the work continues to be bold, responsive, and deeply rooted in lived experience.
